	The first songs of ~~Byrth~~ sing of three peoples: the mighty [[Volkmont]] empire of [[Kel Kozaad]] within the mountainous north, the quarrelsome [[Aengerak]] chieftains of the lowland and coast who paid homage to them, and the untamed Inyaré tribesmen of the great southern forest. For generations the populous Aengerak tribes harried the few Inyaré for control of the fertile southern lands but were routinely thwarted owing to their inferior arms and their lack of unified leadership. The beleaguered Inyaré turned to their allies across the Lauryn sea, their cousins the [[Elys]], for support. Within ten winters the Elys established a stronghold at the northernmost perimeter of the woodlands at [[Kandorr]], where they harassed the Aengerak tribes and defended their allies. When the Inyaré sought aid against their Aengerak adversaries to the north, the lords of Elistrond saw fit to build a stronghold near the fish market in Kandorr on the mouth of the Tortoise River. The Aengerak clanlords assailed the stronghold repeatedly over the years but were thrown back each time. His foes were north of the Doeric and he founded a base camp overlooking a modest Aengerak town on the south side of the great river. This camp and town flourished and came to be known as [[Eatonshire]].
