Marius was a cleric who was among a group of fortune-seekers ambushed outside of Crowten by the high priest Grutek and warrior acolytes of the Thuzuulan Heresy. He was killed, along with his companions Gavin Karthos and Magnus. The survivors of the ambush—Flanagan of Osgud, Joshua Telwin, and Conan of Balthas—fled.
