Legends speak of an ancient and mighty civilization to the east that withstood a series of ruinous civil wars before it collapsed. Its peoples were scattered across the desert wastelands of the Poisoned Vale, where their blood became corrupted and they slowly regressed into savagery. The tribes vied for supremacy over the sparse resources of the Vale and struggled to survive the harsh terrain and its roving monsters.
One tribe among them, the Nendazi, maintained knowledge of the dark magicks of its ancestors and so became the masters of the others; they soon forged a brutal new empire from the scrap of the old.
Little else is understood historically about the Nendazi, but to this day they are commonly known as cannibals and necromancers whose army crossed the Nebiri desert and nearly conquered and enslaved the western kingdoms. They annihilated civilizations during their expanse and their assaults were fearsome enough to unite the disparate kingdoms of the west into an alliance that lasts to the present day.
