Angarim is an Ashakré mage who has been a witness to and participant in a number of historic events in the last few decades. His father, Alagir, is a renowned craftsman and enchanter. Lacking the magical skill to learn his father's trade and jealous of his brother Alagrim's ability to do so, Angarim grew sullen and rebellious. Sensing his son's pain, Alagir gave him a quest to perform that might allow him to feel a sense of accomplishment as well as remove him from the vicinity of his brother. Angarim was sent out of Keldoras and into the wide world to find magical items his people felt were too dangerous to be at large and return them to the elven kingdom for safe keeping or destruction.

Angarim's travels have led him to Larkos, Bereth, Belos and many other strange parts of the world. Despite his rather modest talents, he has found himself embroiled in the affairs of the wise and the powerful. Thanks to his quick wit and his unerring ability to find the right person to suck up to, he has managed to not only survive but prosper.

Twenty years ago, he became the guardian of his nephew, Antagur. Responsibility for the young elf's care has had a positive effect on Angarim's life. He took the boy to many interesting places and tutored him for many years. He saw to it that Antagur attended Baileydowns Thaumaturgical Institute when he came of age. Antagur's devotion to his religious calling is unfathomable to Angarim, but he has tried to respect his nephew's choices.
