Black were its spires, and how they glinted in the glow of the city lights! Its thoroughfares a cacophonous riot of spectacle and sound. We were pressed in from all sides by its curious people, who had come to see we rough few natives.

Songs of Tribulation V.III.1315-1319

Hubrion is the first empire of mankind and dates back to the era called the Tumult and Dispersal, of which the only information about the place exists in a series of ancient Aeldan scrolls recounting the Tribulation War (called The Songs of Tribulation).

By report Hubrion's power grew suddenly and swiftly in the northeast of the valley of Ildaer and—due to a series of droughts—within a generation it threatened the resources and well-being of Silwaris to the south. A parley between the rival city-states ended disastrously and the result was a protracted and costly war. The culmination of their conflict was the destruction of both city states and the ultimate dispersal of all survivors.
