Story

Act One

The group rests safely behind the earthworks and palisades of Captain Munroe's redoubt. Captain Munroe's cartographer and signal man spies the beacon from a signal tower flashing and calls his captain and Captain Fred. Munroe observes that Lord Mirkin has control of the beacons and that Mirkin has been broadcasting messages that order troops loyal to him to converge at Loth with great haste. The group plans to reach Dunbro by following the river and avoiding the main roads. The river path will take a month—twice the time it takes to travel the main roads—but it is a far safer route. Fred calls a command meeting to consider their options (CRIT Tactics).

Antagur finds Fred and asks permission for Aniselle to "read" the items taken from the dead Firelord; the Captain gives his approval and Tasker delivers them to Aniselle.

At the table Captain Munroe utilizes a magical compass and orb that projects signal tower locations onto a map. Alyn comments on things changing since his service and Munroe admits the items are of Malkosti technology, rewarded to them after Munroe and his crew rescued one of their lords during a battle. Tirusin asks from what lord they acquired the items and Munroe cannot reveal it to the party, claiming the issue a matter of secrecy. The group arrives at four options for arriving at Dunbro:

  • A difficult month-long trek through hunting trails and little-travelled paths.
  • A 7-10 day ride in battle formation along a main road, hell bent for leather, fighting anyone who bars them along the way.
  • A 2-3 week ride using subterfuge, riding disguised on the main road at a moderate pace and relying on forged documents to pass checkpoints.
