Aelda
The Aeldara Tuan (luminous ones) are a humanoid race who claimed the Valley of Ildaer for millennia but whose society was shattered after their city-state Silwaris was destroyed by the rival city-state Hubrion—the survivors of that terrible conflict fled separate ways to different lands. Today most Aelda live in isolated strongholds across the land, and those who venture a life outside these cities live warily alongside man.
Aging
The Aelda age slowly compared to common man; they reach maturity around 300, they begin aging around 800 years and the aging process accelerates at about 1220 years and again if they're over 1440 years old. The oldest living Aeldan is Ashakré is Councilor Prime Doma Iae Kestral of Kel Doras, still hale at 1512 years.
Branches
These groups are the distinct ethnic branches of the Aelda, who were separated into castes:
- Ela: the "first peoples" of the valley of Ildaer, they comprise the nobility of Silwaris and claim an unbroken lineage back to the Age of Order. They were decimated during fall of Silwaris and those who survived the Second Filial War are rarely seen outside of the Aeldan realms.
- Ashakré: the descendants of the magi of Silwaris, who removed to the mountains after Silwaris fell.
- Inyaré: the descendants of the laborers and warriors of Silwaris, who removed to the deep woods after Silwaris fell.
- Silwaré: the descendants of the architects and artisans of Silwaris, who now live among the children of men.
- Uarthé: descendants of the nobles and functionaries of Silwaris, known to man as Geldar—those who betrayed Silwaris were from among this caste, and the descendants of those who survived the Second Filial War founded Ulmeth.
- Keuthé: the descendants of the astronomers and scribes of Silwaris.
